Spain-last days

Our vacation was almost over, by now we had seen a lot of things.  The kids really wanted to ride the cable cars that we kept seeing going over the bay and up this huge hill (looked more like a mountain to me).  So we decided to ride the cable car up the Montjuic (Jew hill) to see the castle. It was pretty neat...old, I think 18th century, but I don't think it was a very happy place and it used to be feared by the locals.  There were a lot of executions here and since it was so high up, this is where a lot of enemies bombarded the city.  It was a rainy, cloudy day but the views of the city were still amazing.

After visiting the castle, we decided to just walk around the hill towards the Olympic area.  We had already walked that hill a lot on our first day when we were trying to find the magic fountain, we just didn't realize where we were at the time.

On our last day we decided on Hard Rock for lunch.  We walked La Rambla (AGAIN) first to see if we liked any of the artwork.  There were some amazing artists on the street creating name art and portraits while you wait, and it was really cheap.  They were always so busy, but I would have loved a sketch of the kids.  We chose a small canvas of the city that was mostly done by magazine cutouts.  It was different and we liked it.

At Hard Rock...again!  Brussels is supposed to be getting one this summer, we will probably be there every weekend if it happens.  We miss our American food!

Side note:  We took these pics on our way to Montserrat.  This is Barcelona's cemetery built into the side of Montjuic.  We thought it was very interesting.  Our driver said it was built for a place for the rich people to be buried and because the population in Barcelona had increased so much there was not room for the dead.  He said the locals joke that you have to die to get a view of the ocean...

Ok, finally done with Spain!  Next trip...London!!!
