Mont St Michel

Mont St Michel is just an amazing sight to see.  You can see it from far away and it just gets more interesting as you get closer.  There is so much more history to this place than I can even remember.  It is probably the most intriguing thing I have seen so far.
Mont St Michel is a Gothic Benedictine abbey that is dedicated to the archangel St Michael.  Located in the Normandy region, it sits on top of a rocky island that is exposed to major tides each year.  The population of this commune is quite low, we thought it was less than 90.  It is one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

BEAUTIFUL!
Aerial View (stole this from online, but it gives you a better understanding of where the abbey is located)
We were told that we would have to leave by 5:30 because the tide would come up to the parking lot

The famous omelet restaurant...or so we thought.  Don't always believe what you read in the books.  First off, they wouldn't even seat us.  Theresa asked and then Mike asked, they would just look at them and shrug their shoulders or say they weren't serving.  Well, five minutes later Tommy and Debbie were being seated.  So, we guess they didn't want kids (even though there was a kids menu) or didn't like that there was 11 of us.  Debbie and Tommy said it was over-priced and not even really good.  We saw the omelets they made, they were huge and fluffy, so probably not tasty and dry.  We ate at a good pizza place, so it was for the best anyways.  I'm sure the kids would have hated the omelets!

This is the small alley way that you had to walk up (and I mean UP) to get to the abbey.  It was not busy when we were there so I couldn't imagine if we had come on a busy day, it would have been awful trying to get through.

Making our way towards the abbey.  It was a little steep pushing the stroller up.  We were told not to take the stroller, but when we got there we saw others with strollers...we should have listened.  After we carried it up a ton of stairs and finally made it to the abbey, we were told there was nothing but stairs inside.  So, Debbie decided she didn't want to attempt all those stairs and she stayed with the baby.  There were lots of people who had to do the same.

Preslee trying to sneak through the Monk door....

There were so many different rooms in this abbey...it would be easy to get lost!

The view was beautiful

The spiral stairs that felt like they kept going and going...I was getting a bit dizzy
