My Trip to Trier

Hi this is Preslee! I went on a field trip with the whole 5th grade to Trier, Germany! I had the best time it was the best field trip I've ever been to! I stayed a whole week without parents in a hostel. A hostel is a miniature hotel room! I got to stay with five of my friends! During the day i got to see cool Roman sites! All the days were full of fun and interesting adventure! I got to pick a restaurant in the square the square was pretty and had lots of shops and reataurants to go to. I went to Subway, McDonald's, Ditsch a pizza place. There were even people trying to steal from us because we are little kids and don't know better. There was a girl in 5th grade, but in a different class, and she was paying for subway when she feels something and turns around and by accident slaps a guy! He was still trying to reach for the money but she slapped him again, but on purpose and then he ran away! It happened to a couple other people but no one stole anything. There was a claire's there and i shopped a lot there! I bought tons of gifts for my family! I spent a lot of money just on gifts!

This was me being silly on the bus to Trier I had a great time on the bus playing games and doing lots of other fun stuff!

This is the Roman Lake where the Roman bridge is close. There is a story where romans would throw coins in the lake for good luck! So if you go swimming in there you'll find tons of roman coins!

This is the cathedral where there is a robe that Jesus wore inside, we were the only class to see it!

This is a palace where me and my best friend Maho are.

This is the garden in front of the palace, it goes longer than in this picture! The place was amazingly beautiful!

This is the roman wall! This is the only part left, it has been through a lot of wars and fights!

The roman wall where our tour guide right there in the picture with the pony tail! He always carried a man purse around with him! He also told great stories about the romans in a cool way!

This is a window underneath the roman baths! We were underground in the sewer but at least it didn't stink or have any water in it!

This is a picture of where the sewer finally ends but not exactly! Our tour guide Lee told us if you were lost down here just keep turning right and you'll find your way out!

This is the amphitheater where romans fought against lions and animals or just against other people! We saw the lion cage where the lion was kept for weeks to starve before fighting. It was a cool place and very interesting! But sad thinking a lot of people died there!

It is now a sewer but this is where they buried the people who died during the fights! This is under the fighting ground.

You can barely see it but I wrote Trier out of the rocks on the ground!

Me and my friend Maho are fake fighting in the amphitheater! That was lots of FUN!

This is the Porta Nigra where the romans stayed to shoot bows and arrows.

This is the Basilica where the emperor used to live and rule but now its a church.

The Porta Nigra is right in front of the square and we are going through the way out. My guide in the pony tail right there.

This is a bowl that the christian romans would get baptised if they believed in Jesus which most did until a couple years later.

Inside the Porta Nigra there were big rooms and little hallways but not much it was cool going up pretty high!

You could see the whole square and farther from the Porta Nigra.

These are me and my friends sneakers, the greyish brown sneakers are Sophia's, and blue Maho's, and the purple ones are mine. We love our sneaky sneakers!

I saw my moms name on the wall of the Porta Nigra. So I took a picture of it, and so now her name is, and forever on the Porta Nigra! How lucky is that!

This is the cathedral which had the Holy Robe inside it which Jesus wore. We were the only class to see it!

This is a mosaic which the rich romans would have artists put them on their walls or on their floors for decoration.

A statue of a headless man.

This statue is very famous and shows how many men would have to fit in such a tiny boat to deliver food or water in barrels.

People would make tomb stones for the person that died if they were rich and had enough money for the tomb stone. It shows something important about that person. It shows a woman making her slaves do her hair with oil and putting a mirror in front of her so she can make sure the slave does a good job. They did this so her friends could remember her in that sort of way.
