CROATIA 2014

Croatia was our last European family vacation (for now) and it was one of the best!  The food was great, weather perfect, and the locals were ever so friendly.  The view from our room was amazing and the kids loved our little own private beach.  Our three days went way too quickly but we tried to make the best of it.

View from our rooms

We stayed in the town of Stobrec and it had a beautiful marina
Obsessed with fanta!

Kristen got to come with us and she enjoyed the octopus salad!  yum!

The first full day there, we walked the town of Split and wandered through Diocletian's palace

Bell tower of the Cathedral of St Dominus

Kristen and Kade standing in front of the pile of ancient trash :)

Peek-a-boo
Peristyle, the main square of the palace and the entrance to the vestibule is straight ahead.

The hole is at the top of Diocletian's vestibule, it used to be covered by a dome that has long since collapsed.  The vestibule was the grand entrance to the living area of the palace

We had lots of gelato stops!

And we got to see a wedding parade!

Back at our hotel and on our own private beach :)

Kade found a small crab

The next day we drove to Krka National Park.  We took a boat ride to get to the waterfall area and walked through the forest to see waterfall after waterfall.  It was beautiful and we had never seen so much water in a forest!  You have to walk on boardwalks to get around all the water!

This is what you get Preslee!  If you do a selfie with my camera, it gets posted to the blog!

BEAUTIFUL!!!

It was a lot of walking and stairs...E got a ride every once in a while

She's so cute when she pouts

She wanted to feel the water too....

...And, she fell in!!!

She must have liked the falling in part :)

Brave kids getting in the cold, cold water!

And my camera was not on the right setting and pics are awful :(  So mad!

Brrrrr Mommy!!!

One more time!

We saw a Swan family on our way back

Happy for more gelato!

Split..on the drive back

That night our hosts set us up some Croatian delights and one of them was some sort of sardine-looking fish.  Kristen ate a few...she was brave!

Our last full day in Croatia was Preslee's birthday.  We had a nice morning in Stobrec and then headed back to Split for the beach!

Again, my pics are not good at all!!

When we first arrived to the beach, we saw a girl with blood all over her leg getting help from the lifeguards....Shark?  I thought.  But the girl was not crying or making a sound.  After a while, we figured out that they were practicing!  Ha!  It was a bit freaky at first.  But the lifeguards were really hot!  Don't tell Mike I said that :)

Building their University of Kentucky Village

Completed UK village...then a kid came by and tried to destroy it :/

Birthday girl!!  All of our kids have now had a birthday celebrated in a different country....Preslee in Croatia, Kade in Portugal, Drake in Italy, and Emerson's is always in Belgium although we celebrated in the states too!

E liked the big wine bottle

This was our cool ride

I even think we got bus privileges

Shopping in Split

We found Santa while he was on his vacay

Birthday presents!

It was the best time in Croatia and we are glad Kristen was able to travel with us!
