Rhine Valley WeekendWe all set out for Germany on a sunny Saturday morning. Two cars and two families ready to have an exciting adventure along the Rhine River in Germany. Our first stop was St Goar, where we stayed in a lovely B&B. The first thing we did was eat some good German food and head to the boat for a fabulous cruise down the Rhine. |
| We had the most beautiful weekend to enjoy the Rhine River. The castles, towns, and views were amazing! |

| Loreley Rock....this huge rock formation marks the narrowest part of the Rhine between Switzerland and the North Sea. It is a UNESCO world heritage site and also a site of many boat accidents. Loreley is also a German folktale...the Germans say she is a spirit of the rock that bewitches men and causes shipwrecks. |

| We loved Bacharach. It was such a cute town and it would have been nice to be able to stay longer but back on the boat we went. |

| St. Goarshausen |
 |
| Burg Katz in St Goarshausen. This castle faces the Rheinfels Castle in St Goar. Both castles had a clear view up and down the river controlling all the traffic in medieval times. |

| The boat trip ended back in St Goar and it was dinner time. Yummy pizza and pasta! |

We left St Goar and had a scenic drive up the Rhine, stopping in Boppard for a fun (but a little scary) sesselbahn ride up to the top of the mountain.

| There was only a bar acrossed the front of us. I was a little freaked out and kept yelling at Mike to not let the boys lean over. |

| The kids had fun on the playground and we TRIED to have some lunch at the restaurant. But after an hour and a half of waiting and only half the table being served, I went in to have a little chat with the manager. I got no where, so I told him we were leaving and we did! I've never ever left somewhere without paying but we got horrible service and there was no remorse. I don't even think they even noticed that we left. Back to the chairlift.... |
