We woke up to some crazy weather the next day, after having a great day in Florence! The rain was coming sideways and the wind was blowing so hard we could barely walk outside to the breakfast area. The kids were almost getting blown down and our shutters were going crazy all night. I was for certain that the luggage topper we had (that Mike had taken off and set to the side) was blown across the hills. Luckily, that and our hanging laundry was fine...I don't know how though!
| It looked beautiful but the rain was going so fast and sideways, that you could barely see it! |
| The kids were excited though because the fat cat we saw the day before had had her kittens. They were all safe and snug in a large flower pot. |
| Well, we had to eat and the only way to do that was to venture out. Honestly, I was a little worried that the wind would blow us off the tiny, little, curvy tuscan roads. I was really debating if we should ask Claudia to just feed us! But we decided to head to a new spot, San Gimignano, and we were glad we did. The weather just stopped when we arrived, after we had dug through the car searching for everyone a rain jacket, and it was another very old tuscan town that was eccentric in its own way. It's very touristy so we felt right at home :) |
| We weren't gonna lose Mike with his bright green jacket on! |
| There were originally 72 towers but only 14 remain. |
| An old well in the town plaza |
| We gave her a Fanta and that girl always wants "coke" now when we go to restaurants. |
| Interesting, especially for this little city. |
| Loves to chase the pigeons... |
| Happy about MORE gelato! |
| Shocking?? Ummm..NO! |
| Yummy salamis! |
| Geppetto was from Italy, so that makes Pinocchio the main man here! |
| It was an adventurous day in San Gimignano and we were lucky the rain took a break while we were there! |
| The next day we woke up to a beautiful Easter Sunday. |
| There were shepherds herding their sheep across the valley. |
| One little sheep was not cooperating and the shepherd had to actually pick the sheep up to cross the stream. |
| Beautiful scenery around our villa |
| We decided we would head to Volterra again and walk around a bit more. |
| Volterra is where Stephanie Meyers (Twilight Series) came up with the word "Volturi" but the movie was mostly filmed in Montepulciano. |
| Gran made Preslee kiss her shrimp! |
| Doing a little window shopping! |
| Poor little E got pooped on! We were wandering when one of us would get hit...better her with the least amount of hair! Maybe she shouldn't chase them..... |
| Very crowded on Easter |
| Our last night in Volterra, we decided to enjoy the scenery and sunset. |
Next up Easter pics of the kiddos
